Nicki Minaj’s last studio album, Queen, made its debut way back in 2018, boasting a 20-song tracklist and features from the likes of Eminem, Labrinth, Lil Wayne, The Weeknd, and more. Since then, the Trinidadian has been busy raising her little boy, known as Papa Bear, with husband Kenneth Petty. 2022 saw her make an impressive string of singles and collaborations, but ultimately failed to produce an album. Thankfully, Minaj confirmed via Twitter on Monday (June 5) that her fifth studio LP will arrive later this year.
“10/20/23,” she wrote in a post this afternoon, officially marking October 10th as the debut date of the untitled project. “The Album 💿🎀,” Minaj added after, making it clear she’s coming in full force this fall. It remains unclear who she plans to work with on the upcoming effort, though we’ve already heard her team up with stars like Ice Spice, NBA YoungBoy, and Kim Petras so far this year.
Prior to 2018’s Queen, Minaj began to gain notoriety back in 2010 with Pink Friday. That tracklist boasted fan favourites such as “Moment 4 Life” with Drake and “Fly” featuring Rihanna. In the time after that, she gave fans the Roman Reloaded cut of the project, followed by The Pinkprint in 2014. The latter only brought more success the fashionista’s way, specifically thanks to collaborations like “Only” and “Feeling Myself.”
The only solo effort we’ve heard from Onika so far this year is “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” which earned her plenty of praise for expertly sampling a throwback favourite to spit her signature flow over. Elsewhere in the news, Nicki Minaj joined Sexyy Red on “Pound Town 2” at the end of last month. The remix boasts some of her most salacious bars to date, and after it dropped she penned a sweet message to the up-and-coming rhymer on Twitter.
